Touch-a-Truck - Vehicle Participation Registration

Touch-a-Truck - Vehicle Participation Registration

Saturday, May 11, 2024 (10:00 AM - 2:00 PM) (PDT)

Description

Does your job give you the opportunity to work with a vehicle that you would have loved when you were a kid? We have an event just for you! The City of Independence and SEDCOR are working together to deliver a unique event to bring visibility to the wide variety of career opportunities available that come with the benefit of working with very cool vehicles.

Join us to share your pride in your job, show off the cool stuff that you get to work with, and make the day of a couple thousand kids while you're at it. Touch-a-Truck is a free community event, features unique vehicles and gives kids (and their families) the opportunity to check them out firsthand while also getting to interact with the people who operate them.

Here's a video from the first event, held in 2019, which gives a good idea of what to expect: https://vimeo.com/337602817

Participating business vehicles are welcome to bring marketing materials and other information to hand out if you’d like. We encourage businesses to bring stickers in particular as attendees will be encouraged to collect them to 'decorate their own hard hat' for the event.

The event takes place on the Saturday before Mother's Day, so this year it's Saturday, May 11th from 10am-2pm. Expected attendance is in the 2500-3000 person range over the course of this 4-hour event.

It's free for businesses and agencies to participate, but all must be pre-coordinated and approved through the event registration prior to the April 30 deadline. Vehicles/Equipment don’t need to be "new" but it would be great if it was clean since kids will be touching it and getting into the driver seats. Besides the vehicle, it's great to have at least 1 staff member, (usually its just the person driving the equipment) that will hang out for the event and answer questions for the kids and monitor to make sure the kids aren't being too rough or touching something they shouldn't).
